The written exam is held in May or June of each year. The exam consists of two papers: a compulsory paper on English and a general paper on Pakistan Studies, Current Affairs, and Mathematics. Candidates must pass both papers in order to qualify for the interview.

What is the Promotion Scope of PMS officers in 2025?

The PMS Officers eligible for the posts of Basic Scale-17 to Scale-21 are available in Punjab.

There are few factors which are involved in the promotion criteria such as recommendation summary, seniority, fitness, Comparison among all Tehsildars, merit, and quota. 

According to the 18th Amendment, PMS Officers in Punjab can apply for positions ranging from Basic Scale-17 to Scale-21. 

Their appointment and advancement qualifications, according to service rules, are as follows:

17-Scale

  1.  The PPSC recommends initial recruitment for 50% of the positions based on the results of the combined competitive test.
  2.  Promotion will fill 45 percent of the vacancies as follows:
  3.  22.5% on the basis of seniority cum fitness among Tehsildars who are graduates and have served as Tehsildars for five years.
  4.  22.5% on the basis of seniority cum fitness among Superintendents and Private Secretaries who are graduates in the ratio 50:50, respectively.
  5. 05% via merit selection from among public officials in Basic Scale-05 to Basic Scale-16 with a master's degree or Degree (4 years) or LLB from a recognized university functioning under the government and having the following experience:
  6.  Basic Scale-11 to Basic Scale-16 = 5 years.
  7.  Basic Scale-05 to Basic Scale-10 = 08 years.
  8.  The Punjab Public Service Commission would be in charge of selecting candidates for this 5% quota.

Scale - 18:

Promotion on seniority-cum-fitness from among the cadre of PMS/Basic Scale-17 with at least five years' service with Prescribed Departmental Training / Exam fills 100% of the Basic Scale-18 seats.

Scale - 19:

After Prescribed Departmental Training/ Exam, all posts in Basic Scale-19 are filled by promotion on the basis of merit from among PMS Officers holding posts in Basic Scale-18 and having at least 12 years' service against posts in Basic Scale-17 and above, with at least 04 years' service in Basic Scale-18.

Scale - 20:

Promotion on the basis of merit from among PMS Officers holding posts in Basic Scale-19 and having at least 17 years' service against posts in Basic Scale-17 and above, of which at least 3 years' service should be in BS-19 after the Advance Training Course, is used to fill 100% of Basic Scale-20 posts.

Scale- 21:

Promotion on the basis of merit from among PMS Officers holding posts in Basic Scale-20 and having at least 22 years of service against positions in Basic Scale-17 and higher, with at least two years of service in Basic Scale-20, is used to fill 100% of Basic Scale-21 posts.

What is Ineligibility Criteria for PMS Exam 2025?

Candidates from AJK, Balochistan, KPK, and Sindh are ineligibility to apply for the PMS Exam in Punjab, and vice versa.

They are eligible to apply for PMS Exams and Jobs in their respective provinces.

What is PMS Exam Syllabus 2025?

For its Combined Competitive Examination for appointment to the ranks of Provincial Management Service, the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has reviewed the syllabus and reintroduced the twenty-nine choice subjects.
