Engineering Colleges' Admission Test (ECAT) is a computer-based test held every year in May/June in Punjab, Pakistan, for admission to BE/BS/BSc Engineering programs since 1.

The University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, hosts ECAT. ECAT is also a requirement for several private universities.

ECAT is required by certain other universities as well. Every year, more than 50,000 students from all of Punjab's districts, as well as the Federal Territory of Islamabad, compete in a test for a limited number of BS/B.Sc. Engineering seats.

Fees Required for ECAT

The ECAT admission test will be held at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore from March 11th, 2024, to March 15th, 2024, at the authorized time.

The entrance test is required for candidates seeking admission to Punjab's BSc Engineering and BSc Engineering Technology programs.

Candidates who plan to take the test for ECAT, can obtain tokens from authorized HBL branches, HBL online Banking and HBL Konnect by paying Rs. 2,500/- until February 29, 2024. see here.

Candidates who want to be admitted in non-ECAT, can obtain tokens until February 29, 2024 on the payment of Rs. 2,500/-

Who May Appear in the Entry Test?

The students who have passed or are going to appear in intermediate exam, will be allowed to sit in the ECAT test.

Those who do not appear in the 2024 test will be ineligible for admission in the PEC accredited undergraduate programs of UET, starting from September, 2024.

Announcement of Result of ECAT Test 2025

The official result of the ECAT Entrance Test will be declared, on the admission portal, on Friday March 22nd, 2025.

What is the ECAT Subjects Scheme?

Engineering students are divided into two groups under ECAT: Computer Science and Engineering. 

While studying for the test, you should concentrate on four primary subjects.

These four subjects are the most important in determining whether or not a student is qualified for an engineering college admission.

English for ECAT Test: This covers all aspects of the English language, including direct and indirect communication, mistake detection, prepositions, and pairs of words, clauses and phrases, as well as tenses and sentences. This involves proper instruction on the English language's fundamentals.

Chemistry for ECAT Test encompasses all of the fundamental ideas as well as experimental topics. It covers the atomic structure and atom bonding, as well as the physical and reactive properties of all group IIIA and VIA elements, as well as the Nobel gasses, as well as the physical and chemical properties of alcohol and alkali.

What is the format of the ECAT test?

In a conventional ECAT framework, the parts are physics, chemistry, mathematics, and English.

ECAT consists of 100 multiple choice questions.

Each question carries 4 marks with 1 mark deducted for each wrong answer.

Documents Required along with Application for Admission

Prospective candidates are advised to prepare the following documents well in advance to avoid any inconvenience at the time of submitting the application for admission.

No application shall be entertained without the following required documents:

1. Domicile Certificate.
2. Computerized National Identity Card or Computerized B-Form issued by NADRA.
3. Certificate, Diploma, Degree or Detailed Marks Certificates of all the examinations on the basis of which admission is sought, that is, H.S.S.C., Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE), B.Sc., B.Tech. (Pass).
4. Six (6) passport size recent photographs.
5. Applicants having equivalent foreign qualifications (e.g., O/A-levels) must obtain Equivalence Certificate from I.B.C.C. (Inter Board Committee of Chairmen) offices located in major cities of Pakistan.
6. If you are applying against reserved seats for the Children of Overseas Pakistanis (Category S & SI), you are required to submit the following additional documents. Orphans can also apply against these reserved seats, if they are sponsored by them:
   1. Real brother. 
   2. Real maternal uncle (Mamo); Or 
   3. Real paternal uncle (Chacha, Taya) working abroad:

1. a) Duly filled Form-VIII of applicant’s guardian and a photocopy of valid Resident Visa / Residence Permit verified/attested by the Pakistani Embassy in the respective foreign country. Form-VIII can be downloaded from our websites.
2. b) Sponsored orphans must also submit the following documents:
   1. Father’s death certificate Issued by NADRA
   2.  Proof of relationship with the guardian in the form of CNIC of all family members and NADRA Family Registration Certificate (FRC) highlighting the Family Tree structure of the applicant;
   3. Copy of Nikah nama in case the guardian is the maternal uncle (Mamo) of the applicant.

Note: Scanned / faxed copies of certificates and visa/ residence permit shall not be entertained.

How to Register for ECAT-2025

1. Generate Challan

   Visit the Generate Challan page and save the PDF with the serial number and token number.

   Payment Instructions

   1. Payment through HBL/Konnect APP

      1. Login to the Konnect mobile application.
      2. Tap the "LIFESTYLE" button.
      3. Select "EDUCATION". option.
      4. Tap on "SCHOOL FEE".
      5. A list of institutions will appear. Select UET Lahore and enter Challan Number.
      6. After verifying your name, make the payment.
      7. Now you may use this paid Challan Number as your Token Number.

   2. Payment through HBL Online Banking

      1. Login to the HBL online banking application.
      2. Select "MORE" option.
      3. Choose "EDUCATION" under the bill payment category.
      4. Select UET Lahore and enter the Challan Number.
      5. After verifying your name, make the payment.
      6. Use the paid Challan Number as your Token Number.

2. Open the Registration Page

   Go to Registration Page, enter serial number and 15-digit paid Challan Number.

5. Upload Picture
6. Select City/Campus
7. A PDF report will be generated displaying your roll number and credentials.
8. Print it. This is your ADMIT CARD
9. You have registered successfully for ECAT 2024
